Course proposal:
Theatrical experiences play a fundamental role in the education of children and adolescents.
As well as enabling contact with a new language – which can be appropriated
to understand and transform the world – theater also invites a new look
at the body, understood here as a channel of expression. By perceiving the body as a
vector of ideas, thoughts and aspirations, children discover a more
powerful way of communicating.
As the process of signification is essential in the acquisition of a second
language, experiencing theater in English is especially enriching for
language development. Through theater games and improvisation exercises,
the aim is to collectively build a narrative for the children to act out,
which will give them the opportunity to explore different elements of the scene, such as light, sound,
scenery and costumes.
